KARACHI, July 3: The managing director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), Mohammad Suleman Chandio, said that the water board might request the provincial government to help steer the utility out of financial crisis.

He said that a number of ongoing development projects had been delayed mainly due to financial constraints. Mr Chandio was talking to UC nazims and councillors of Orangi, Baldia, North Nazimabad, Site and Keamari towns on Thursday.

He assured them that water supply and sewerage work would be carried out in all the 178 union councils without any discrimination. The coordinator to LG minister, Najmi Alam, who was also present, said that the government was making all-out efforts to solve the water and sewerage problems facing the citizens.

He asked the relevant engineers to remain in touch with the nazims so as to solve their problems immediately.

The chief engineer electrical-mechanical has also been directed to ensure proper arrangements for the maintenance and care of pumping station motors at Banaras Chowk.—APP/PPI
