SUKKUR, June 30: Five people were killed and five others, including a minor girl, were injured in an armed clash between Sabzoi and Sawand tribesmen in Wali Mohammad Sawand village near Kandhkot on Monday.

According to reports reaching here, following a dispute over a theft incident, a group of armed Sabzoi tribesmen raided the village and opened fire. Sawand tribesmen also returned fire in retaliation.

As a result of the gunbattle, five people killed on the spot and five others, including a minor girl, were injured.

Umeed Ali Sawand, Mour Sabzoi, Hamal Sabzoi, Budho Sabzoi and Sajjan Sabzoi are killed in the clash.

Seven-year-old Naziran Buriro, Ali Hassan Sabzoi, Mohammad Pannah Sabzoi, Abdul Karim Sawand and Khawand Bux Sabzoi are among the injured. They have been shifted to the civil hospital in Kandhkot.

Tension has gripped the area. People have been confined to their houses. Both the tribesmen have been taken positions against each other.

On the other hand heavy contingent of police have cordoned off the area but firing between the tribesmen is continuing after short intervals.
