SUKKUR, May 3: Massive power breakdown covering area from Guddu to Naushahro Feroze and parts of Punjab occurred due to a fault in Guddu Thermal Power Station on Friday night.

Sources at of Guddu power station told Dawn that the power station had tripped and the entire upper Sindh and parts of Punjab, which get supply from Guddu, plunged into darkness. They said the technical staff were trying to locate the fault but it was not clear how long it would take to restore the power supply.

Because of the breakdown, the miseries of people increased as temperature in the area is touching 45 Celsius.
