TOKYO, June 24: A 77-year-old Japanese farmer was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly killing his entire family with a hammer including his young granddaughter, police said.

Yoshio Kiuchi, who said he was suffering health problems, telephoned police early in the morning and said he had killed four people in the family, police said.

Officers rushed to his house in Kashiwa, northeast of Tokyo, and found four bludgeoned bodies along with Kiuchi passed out wearing blood-smeared clothes, they said.

Kiuchi is believed to have killed his family by hitting them in the head with a hammer, which was left in the kitchen.—AFP
