RAWALPINDI, June 23: Nazim Rawal Town Sheikh Rashid Shafique has feared big flood in Nullah Leh as the city district government failed to complete the de-silting work on the nullahs before the monsoon.

He has urged the district government to clean the nullahs on war footing to avoid flood like situation. “If the obstacles were not cleared properly, the loss of lives and property would be unavoidable in the city,” the nazim said, while talking to a group of naib nazims here on Monday at his office.

According to a press release, he said the Rawal Town Municipal Administration had warned the district government before the monsoon that the flood-like situation could emerge if the nullahs in low-lying areas were not cleared. However, he said the city district government turned a blind eye to the warning.
