LAHORE, June 21: The Punjab Assembly echoed with a new slogan of “Go massi (aunt) Go” when PML-Q’s Dr Samia Amjad pointed out quorum but had to eat the humble pie as more than 94 members, the minimum required strength for holding a session, present in the house.

On boycott along with other opposition members, Dr Amjad joined the house for a short period. A woman treasury member giving Dr Samia the title of “massi museebatay” chanted “Go Massi Go” as her other colleagues, both male and female, joined in the chorus.

Most of the treasury members took her to task as deputy speaker Rana Mashhud gave them floor one by one.

Dr Samia later thanked the chair “for allowing 50 to 60 people to hurl every comment, good or bad, at her” and left the house.

Outside the house she complained that the chair should have at least expunged the disgraceful remarks.
