HYDERABAD, June 19: Tando Bago police on Thursday lodged a case against well-known gold trader Kamran Tessori, his father, brother and others after he fled from police custody a day ago when he was being taken to civil court in Badin.

Tessori, a close associate of Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, was arrested by Karachi police who brought him to Tando Bago after one Mujahid Khwaja, owner of a showroom, lodged an FIR against him in Tando Bago police station, accusing him and seven others of dacoity and motorcycle-snatching.

Police said that four accused were identified as Ghulam Rasool, Ghulam Mustafa, Achaar Katiar, Munawar and four were unidentified, among them was Tessori.

Police were taking him to civil court to get his remand when two cars intercepted their van and took away Tessori along with ASI Mohammad Hashim.

Sources close to the matter said that ASI Hashim had been arrested by Kemari police in Karachi. Neither Badin DPO Dr Fida Hussain Mastoi nor Hyderabad DIG Sanaullah Abbasi responded to calls for further details.

Tando Bago police have lodged a case (FIR 70/08) under sections 353, 224, 225, 225-A, 119, 120-B, 395 PPC against Kamran Tessori, his father Akhtar, brother Imran and others.
