KARACHI, June 19: Security is expected to be further beefed up at the Quaid-i-Azam’s mausoleum, with the installation of close-circuit cameras, walk-through gates, metal detectors and other gadgets to keep a watchful eye on visitors and to ensure their security.

Responding to Dawn queries, Mohammad Arif, resident engineer, Quaid-i-Azam Mazar Management Board, said a meeting of the mazar management board would be held on June 23 to review the situation and take a final decision on the issue.

He, however, regretted that the decisions earlier taken at a meeting last month were not being fully implemented.

The meeting was chaired by the federal environment secretary, Ejaz Qureshi, and was attended by representatives of the home department, police and the Rangers.

He said that it was decided that law-enforcers would be posted at the mazar, but only 15 rangers remained on duty at the mazar for 10 days, and since then, they are yet to come back.
