HYDERABAD, June 13: French Consul-General in Karachi Pierre Seillan during a visit to the University of Sindh on Friday met the Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui.

He evinced keen interest in Sufism and arts and culture of Sindh and proposed holding an exhibition of the works of artistes of the Sindh University through the Institute of Art and Design.

He said Sindh had rich culture and art but needed proper promotion and offered cooperation on behalf of French Consulate for arranging exhibition in Karachi.

Mr Siddiqui informed the diplomat about the university’s academic and research programmes and said the university had introduced reforms in higher education and was concentrating on research activities.

The French Consul-General visited Benazir Art Gallery at the Institute of Art and Design. He also visited the Centre for Rural Development Communication and met Director Prof Ibadullah Rashidi.

SEMINAR: Meanwhile, speaking at a seminar on “Self Assessment Report organized by the Quality Enhancement Cell of the university, Mr Siddiqui called upon the teaching community to pay more attention towards students and redeem hopes of parents and society.

The seminar was attended by various scholars, senior professors, directors and chairpersons of centres, institutes and departments of the university.

The vice-chancellor said that quality was a continuous journey in quest of excellence in education.
