Deposed judge quits PPSC job

LAHORE, June 11: Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry, 'deposed' on Nov 3 under the Provisional Constitution Order, has resigned as member of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).

Justice Ijaz says the government has validated his status as the sitting judge of the Lahore High Court by releasing his salary from Nov 3, 2007 to May 31, 2008 in capacity of an LHC judge.

"I cannot continue as member of the PPSC," justice Ijaz wrote in his resignation.

The 'deposed' judge has also returned the salary that he withdrew as member of the commission till date.

Justice Chaudhry had accepted the offer to become a member of the PPSC. — Reporter
