BAHAWALPUR, June 8: High court and district bar associations have finalised arrangements to welcome lawyers’ caravans from Sindh and Balochistan passing through the city on their way to Multan and onward Islamabad to join lawyers’ long march for the restoration of judges.

According to the Bahawalpur High Court Bar Association and the District Bar Association, lawyers will begin a three-day strike from June 9 to see the visiting lawyers.

They will welcome office-bearers and members of executive committees of various bars at Karachi Morr on June 10 and bring them to the high court bar room, where receptions will be arranged for them.

Local lawyers will leave for Multan on June 10 to join the long march. A large number of lawyers has expressed their willingness to join the march.

ANTI-ENCROACHEMT DRIVE: The district government announced the launch of an anti-encroachment operation in city from June 10 and warned encroachers to remove their structures by June 9.

The administration consulted the Anjuman-i-Tajran and gained its support for the operation. In the phased drive, the operation will first target structures built from Farid Gate to Fowara chowk on Circular Road.
