QUETTA, June 3: Police foiled an attempt to blow up the offices of the inspector general of prisons department by defusing a powerful bomb planted near the department on Samungli road on Tuesday. According to sources, police acting on an anonymous tip-off rushed to the place along with bomb disposal personnel and after cordoning off the area defused the bomb.

“It was a locally-made bomb planted near a wall of the building,” a senior police officer said.
