Sharifs consult legal aides

Published June 1, 2008

LAHORE, May 31: Former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and PML-N President Mian Shahbaz Sharif held consultations with their legal advisers on Saturday to devise their future course of action for their participation in the June 26 by-election.

It is said that the Sharifs have no doubt in their mind that they are qualified to take part in the elections. However, they apprehend that the opponents may file an appeal against them in the Lahore High Court.

In case such an appeal was filed, it is said, the Sharifs would not appear before the High Court as they don’t recognize the “PCO judges” as constitutional adjudicators. Still, lawyers representing the civil society may represent them.
