LAKKI MARWAT, May 31: Deputy district officer of schools (primary) and literacy department (SLD) Lakki Marwat, Haji Sanaullah Khan Begukhel, on Saturday paid surprise visits to a number of primary schools and found several teachers absent from their duty.

Following complaints lodged by public circles, the SLD official went to government primary and maktab schools situated in Janabad, Wanda Painda Khan, Chowki Jand, Azimabad, Gul Mohammad, Jabbarkhel, Darra Tang, Kara, Qaboolkhel, Wanda Aurangzeb, Bergi Hakim Khan, Wanda Gulapa, Wanda Muzaffari, Wanda Samandi, Wanda Shahaabkhel and Wanda Kara Hakim Khan localities and checked the attendance of teachers and other record of the schools, official sources said.

The sources said that two teachers were found absent in Wanda Painda Khan School, three in Chowki Jand and five in Wanda Shahaabkhel schools.

The SLD official ordered deduction in salaries of the absent teachers. He made it clear that absenteeism on part of the primary school teachers would not be tolerated at any cost, saying that there was no room for irregular, dishonest and negligent teachers in the education department.
