HYDERABAD, May 27: The on-going transfer and postings in police and its internal issues are contributing to the rise in crime rate, said DPO Hyderabad Dr Najaf Qulli Mirza.

He was speaking during the ceremony to handover keys of 14 motorbikes to police on Monday organised by Supervising Police Officer (SPO) Site Irfan Mukhtar Bhutto.

The DPO admitted the crime was increasing but said the city soon would experience improvement.

“Prevention and detection of crime by police will improve”, he said and attributed commission of offences to economic conditions, lawlessness, confusion among police and instability on account of transfer and postings.

He said police had some of their internal issues that were confronting investigation and operation.

He said police were hit by resource constraints with the result that they were seeking help of business community.

He said recently 26 bikes were repaired on which policemen perform their duties under the name of Muhafiz.

He sought cooperation of business community for combating crime. He said the community’s trust in police was mandatory because it makes policemen accountable before people.

The DPO added that today people were openly criticising police and not only this but making complaints during open Katcheries not seen in the past.
