HYDERABAD, May 25: An aggrieved father has alleged that his new-born baby recently died in Memon Charitable Hospital, Tando Adam, due to negligence of its doctors and management and demanded an inquiry into the incident.

Mukhtar Hussain of Tando Adam said at a news conference at the press club here on Saturday that his two-day old baby, who had been admitted to the hospital on May 2, died there because the hospital could not arrange an oxygen cylinder on time.

He said the most ironic part of the tragedy was that the baby girl was alive when the doctors pronounced her dead.

He said that when a doctor was informed that the baby was breathing, she was again admitted to the hospital.

But, she could not survive as the management could not arrange an oxygen cylinder on time, Mr Hussain said.

He held the doctors and management of the hospital responsible for the death of his baby and demanded an inquiry into the matter.

Answering a question, he said that the hospital was charitable only in name as it charged Rs1,500 per day from an in-house patient.
