NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, May 23: The district bar association has called on the city lawyers to boycott inauguration of the newly constructed Judicial Complex by Chief Justice of Pakistan Abdul Hameed Dogar on Saturday.

Sindh High Court’s Chief Justice Azizullah Memon and 11 judges will accompany him. The complex was completed in December last while courts began working from 17th of the same month.

Lawyers on Friday took out a procession from the Judicial Complex in the lead of President Naushahro Feroze District Bar Association Akbar Ali Ujjan and member Sindh Bar Council G.M. Abbasi and culminated at the local press club.

The DBA president and lawyers announced to boycott inaugural ceremony.

They said as lawyers were struggling for restoration of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Choudhry as such they were not in a position to welcome the PCO judges and attend the ceremony, rather will record a peaceful protest.

District bar had not sent an invitation to Chief Justice Dogar, they said and added: “We will not compromise on the independence of judiciary and restoration of judges and will not accept the PCO judges.”

Secretary General of the District Bar Association had been used under a conspiracy to extend Dogar an invitation at his own with no concern of the bar, they alleged. However, DBA General Secretary and leader of Peoples Lawyers Forum

Abdul Saleem Luhrani, DBA Vice-President Sadruddin Ujjan and lawyers of Moro and Bhirya announced of giving a warm welcome to Justic Dogar and pledged to will serve him and other Judges refreshment in the district bar.

Speaking during a press conference they vowed to attend the inauguration and further claimed that the CJP was visiting the Complex at the invitation of district bar.

They refused to accept Akbar Ujjan as the DBA President and claimed the majority of lawyers were not with them but only those few affiliated with Jamat-i-Islami.
