ABBOTTABAD, May 16: Top-seed Farhan Mehboob defeated Yasir Butt in the final to win the PSF President International squash tournament at the Jansher Khan Squash Complex here on Friday.

Yasir played attackingly and with the help of calculated drop shots succeeded in winning the first game 11-5 in just six minutes.

Farhan, however, bounced back to clinch the next three games to claim the trophy.

The second game saw the closest contest as Farhan got his rhythm back and kept his rival busy in deep lobs and at back court.

The capacity crowed witnessed the longest rallies of the match as the score moved side by side from 6-6 and 7-7 to 11-11.

Farhan, keeping his head down with cross-court nick shots, ultimately equalled the lead 1-1 by winning the game 13-11.

Third and fourth games were Farhan’s show. He took charge of the third game with perfect court coverage and maintained his lead from 6-2 to winning the game at 11-7.

Farhan pushed the score to 5-0 as Yasir, putting in all his experience, failed to take control of the fourth game.

The left-hander using his wrist intelligently and playing series of rallies finished the game in just seven minutes with an 11-5 scoreline.

The winner received US$1,635 while Yasir pocketed US$1,125.
