Asim hits ton in final

LAHORE, May 11: The four-day Patron’s Trophy Grade-II cricket final seems to be heading towards conclusion on its third day alone with Port Qasim Authority (PQA) set to put up a mounting target for State Bank of Pakistan at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

PQA were 327 for nine in their second innings at stumps after conceding a slim 10-run lead on the first innings.

A century by Test discard Asim Kamal’s was the highlight of the day. Asim’s 100 came off 210 balls with six boundaries.

Earlier, in the first innings, PQA scored 305. But a fine knock of 89 from Ansar Javed helped the bankers gain the crucial lead.

Summarised scores:

PORT QASIM AUTHORITY 305 (Asim Kamal 75, Rashid Latif 70; Jalat Khan 5-75) and 327-9 (Asim Kamal 100, Kamran Younis 52, Shadab Kabir 42, Azam Hussain 47 not out; Ansar Javed 4-58); STATE BANK OF PAKISTAN 315-8 (Ansar Javed 89, Shahbaz Butt 56, Shoaib Khan 43; Abdur Rauf 3-59, Mohammad Talha 3-98).—Sports Reporter
