ISLAMABAD, April 28: Exporters of medicines have asked the government to allow them to claim duty drawback on exports of all drugs.

Officials sources said the government had decided to allow duty drawback facility provided certain conditions were fulfilled.

The issue was discussed at a meeting of the commerce ministry, which was attended, among others, by senior officials from the ministry, Central Board of Revenue (CBR) and exporters of pharmaceutical products.

The government representatives said the facility would be provide to exporters if they could get an NOC from multi-national companies for claiming the duty drawback on their exports.

The exporters, however, said they were facing problems in procuring the NOC, hence they should be given the facility without having to fulfil the condition.

The duty drawback facility could only be provided on those goods, on which customs duty was paid at the import stage, the officials added.
