GHALANAI, May 10: Unidentified men set on fire a shop allegedly involved in sale of narcotics, in the Mian Mandi bazaar in Haleemzai tehsil of Mohmand Agency on Friday night, officials and eye-witnesses said.

They said that the assailants also snatched a pistol, cash and mobiles from the two persons who were sitting in the shop before they put it on fire. The shop was owned by one Khan Sher Afridi.

The Taliban had set a deadline for shopkeepers dealing in narcotics in the Mohmand Agency to wind up their businesses; otherwise action would be taken against them.

Sources said that on expiry of the deadline, the Taliban came to the shop of Khan Sher in the Mian Mandi bazaar, some eight kilometres from here, on the night between Friday and Saturday and set it on fire.

The Taliban also warned other people dealing in drugs and narcotics to wind up illegal and un-Islamic businesses, the sources added.
