Tariq leads in CNS golf

ISLAMABAD, May 9: Pakistan Navy’s Tariq Mahmood took an early lead in the gross category while two golfers were tied for the top spot in the net category on the opening day of the Chief of Naval Staff Amateurs Golf Championship at the Islamabad Golf Club on Friday.

Tariq was the first in the gross by playing two-under par followed by Taimur Hassan who had a round of 75 after playing over the first 18 holes of the 54-hole main event which will conclude on Sunday.

The third in the gross category on Friday was Mahmood Aziz with 77.

In the net category of the main event, Amir Akbar and Lt Cdr Rizwan both finished joint first with the round of 67 followed by Rashid Malik with round of 69.

In the ladies’ gross category, the first on the opening day with 81 was Agnis Dekok while in the ladies’ net category, Nadia Raja was on top with 68.The seniors and juniors’ categories will also be played during the three-day tournament.—APP
