LAHORE, May 9: The Punjab government on Friday sought detail of the funds released by the previous government to former members of assemblies.

Finance, Planning and Development Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira ordered Finance Department officials to provide detail of the development as well as non-development funds released to the former members of provincial and national assemblies by the previous government.

Mr Kaira said the government would stop misuse of public resources, and strict action would be taken against those who had done so in the past. He said a report would be prepared after examining all detail of “misuse” of funds and the report would be released to the media.

The minister said a policy regarding the misuse of funds would be tightened.
