THATTA, May 8: Six fishermen were kidnapped allegedly by rival group over a dispute over fishing waters, 50 nautical miles off Shahbandar coast about 70 kilometers from here on Thursday.

Ghulam Nabi Thaheem, a relative of the kidnappees, accused in a FIR lodged at Beghan police station that a group of fishermen belonging to their rival Dubbai Jatt community had kidnapped Zaman Thaheem, Ghulam Abbas Thaheem, Ghafoor Thaheem, Shabbir Thaheem, Baboo Thaheem and two others when they were fishing in disputed waters.

Area people said that the two communities had a running dispute over fishing waters and they had had clashes at times. The kidnapping might be its offshoot, they said.

They said that Thaheem community was supporter of Pakistan People’s Party while Dubbai Jatt had been Shirazi supporters.
