Published May 1, 2008

KARACHI, April 30: All Pakistan Newspapers Society has decided a minimum cover price formula for newspapers all over the country in consultation with the Akhbar Farosh Federation, Pakistan, according to a press release.

The agreed formula to be effective from today is: up to four pages Rs4; above four pages but less than eight Rs5; eight pages or above but less than 12 pages Rs7; 12 or more pages Rs9 (Sunday editions Rs12). The cover price of English morning newspapers (except Sundays) will, however, be Rs15.

A meeting of the APNS Distribution/Retail Marketing Committee was assured by Akhbar Farosh Federation that no newspaper violating the above formula will be distributed in the Akhbar (newspaper) Markets.

It was also decided that all incentives in negation of the above formula will be curbed by Akhbar Farosh bodies all over Pakistan. It was further decided that the hawkers/agents commission system would be regulated.
