SAHIWAL, April 26: The special anti-corruption judge (Multan camp) in Sahiwal on Friday cancelled the pre-arrest bails of an ASI, muharrar and a clerk of the former Deputy Commissioner office.

The police arrested them and sent all of them to the central jail.

ASI Ghazi Ahmed and muharrar Nisar Ahmed had registered a fake theft case against Asif who was in America at the time of registration of a case. The police arrested Asif when he came to Pakistan. An inquiry was conducted which found Asif innocent. Both the officials had managed their pre-arrest bails which the court on Friday cancelled.

Clerk Riaz Shahid had embezzled Rs180,000 from the salaries of patwaris. The ACE had registered a case, but the accused got the pre-arrest bail.

Meanwhile, the anti-corruption judge has also awarded two years hard jail to a headclerk of the Education Department, Chichawatni.

The ACE had arrested Israr Ahmed on Feb 6, 2000, for accepting illegal gratification of Rs1,000 from a teacher, Nauman Ashraf. A case had been registered against him, but he had been granted pre-arrest bail. The court on Friday handed him down sentence and sent him to jail.

POLLING STATIONS: The Punjab Election Commission has ordered setting up of three polling stations inside the central jail and one outside its premises.

District and sessions judges of Sahiwal, Okara and Pakpattan on Friday finalized the arrangements.

ARRESTED: Farid Town police on Friday claim to have arrested a drug-trafficker with two kilogramme charas and 200 gram heroin at Chak 89/6-R.

Accused Qalandri has been sent to jail after the registration of a case against him.
