LAHORE, April 28: Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary-General Syed Munawwar Hasan has accused the ruling coalition of continuing the policies of President Pervez Musharraf and tormenting the people by delaying the restoration of judges.
In a statement issued here on Monday, the JI leader said on one hand the government was attributing inflation, flour and power crises to the policies of the previous regime but was also continuing the same for `winning the favour’ of President Musharraf on the other.
He said the government had also failed to take effective measures to check smuggling and hoarding of flour and wheat despite reports that smugglers were purchasing the standing wheat crop and flour was being sold in Afghanistan and Central Asian States.
The country was likely to face the worst flour crisis if steps were not taken to check smuggling and hoarding, he warned.
The government, he demanded, should restore the judges without further delay and impeach President Musharraf and his team for being responsible for the multiple crises in the country.
Dams should be built for increasing power generation and contracts be awarded to the private sector for power generation, he demanded further.
