KASUR, April 24: Two persons were burnt alive while as many sustained serious burn wounds in an explosion in a fireworks manufacturing unit on Peerowala Road here on Thursday.

Reports said that the explosion was so severe that the roof of the unit also caved in and its godown burnt to ashes. Consequently, Shaukat Ali Shah was burnt alive while an unidentified man expired in hospital. The injured, Bago and Nadeem, were rushed to the DHQ Hospital in serious condition.

Saddar police are looking into the matter.

COMMITS SUICIDE: A student committed suicide by taking poisonous pills over some domestic issue in the limits of Chunian police station on Thursday.

Reports said that Zeeshan, the student of Sahiwal Technical College, had come to his house at Chunian where he took the extreme step. He died while being shifted to Jinnah Hospital in Lahore.

Police were going into the matter.

LOOTED: Six armed robbers looted a house on Multan Road in the Phoolnagar police station jurisdiction on Wednesday night.

Reports said that gunmen entered Yousaf’s house after scaling its boundary wall and held the family hostage. After locking the inmates in a room, the intruders collected Rs65,000 in cash, ornaments and other valuables and escaped.

SEIZED: Mustafaabad police claimed to have seized three trucks loaded with flour bags here on Thursday.

Police said they took into possession some 600 flour bags which were being taken to Lahore from Kasur in trucks. Police also arrested all the three truck owners.
