AKU basketball enters last-8 phase

KARACHI, April 22: Asghar Khan scored 33 points as the Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine (AIDM) defeated the Fast-National University 54-16 to qualify for quarter-finals of the seventh AKU Inter-university basketball tournament at the AKU Sports Centre Gymnasium here on Monday.

The winners took the 30-3 lead in the first half.

The Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) also qualified for the last eight by overpowering the Institute of Business Admi nistration (IBA) ‘B’ team 60-35.

The winners led the first half 27-17.

Bilal Ahmed scored 20 points and Umair Ashraf 16 points for the SSUET.

In another match, Ziauddin Medical University (ZMU) overpowered Greenwich University (GU) 47-37.

After the first half, the scores were 22-14 in favour of the ZMU.

Huwad Chaudhry (16 points) and Tahir Ahmed (10 points) shone for the victors.—PPI
