LAHORE, April 22: The exclusive screening of Pakistan’s first international award-winning film ‘Jago Huwa Swera’ was held at the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) auditorium on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, HRCP Director I.A. Rehman said the film was a happy congestion of outstanding talent. He said the film belonged to realistic cinema, which was discussing new idioms in cinema images. He said the film came after the first brush with martial law and the Pakistani cinema should be proud of the film.

Film writer Faiz Ahmad Faiz’s daughter Salima Hashmi said the film had been lost and it was found from a film archives in London.

She said Shirin Pasha from Film and TV Department of the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore, and a French film director helped in finding out the lost film.

The film was a masterpiece when it came to realistic cinema. The film was, however, not viable for the commercial cinemagoer.

Prominent on the occasion were NCA Principal Nazish Attaullah, intellectual Hameed Akhtar, classical dancer Zarin Pana, ace documentary maker Shirin Pasha, actor Salman Shahid and film producer Noman Taseer’s son Anjum Taseer.
