SIALKOT, April 18: The girl, who had reportedly eloped with her lover, was shot dead by her cousins when she came back to her house at Gaggarwali village in Satrah on Friday.

Reports said that landlord Muhammad Boota’s daughter Hafeeza Bibi, 19, had eloped with a youth of the same village some six months ago. As she stepped out of the car on Friday, her cousins Nasir, Amjad and Iqbal got hold of Hafeeza and later sprayed a volley of bullets on her. She died on the spot while the accused escaped while firing in the air. The police handed over the body to her heirs.

On the report of deceased’s father, the Satrah police have registered a murder case against the accused.

RECOVERED: The Daska police claimed to have recovered a minor boy who was kidnapped for ransom on Thursday besides arresting an alleged kidnapper.

Sialkot DPO Capt Muhammad Ameen (retired) told reporters that five armed culprits, including Furqan Bashir and Sheharyar, had kidnapped Nauman (8) when he was going to a nearby mosque.

He said a police team, led by Daska DSP Moeen Ashraf, raided a hotel near Data Darbar, Lahore, on a tip-off and retrieved the kidnapped child. He said the police also arrested one of the kidnappers, Furqan Bashir.

Bambaanwala police have registered a case.
