SAHIWAL, April 14: A poor woman and her mother who had approached the local Human Rights of Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) on Friday seeking help against a local feudal, have been missing for the last two days.

Seventeen-year-old ‘S’, of 112/9-L, told the HRCP that Mahmood Jotha, their neighbour, had tried to rape her on Thursday. She said Mahmood would pester her to satisfy his evil desires. On Thursday, Mahmood and his servant Shaikh Sher tried to rapeher at a deserted place in the village.

She got many injuries at her arms, neck and back while resisting their attempts. Amir Ali, of the same village, rescued the girl. She said when they contacted Dera Rahim police station, police did not register any case against Mahmood.

On Friday, ‘S’ along with her mother approached the HRCP. On the intervention of the HRCP, the Sahiwal district police officer ordered an immediate inquiry into the matter.
