LAHORE, April 10: Punjab IG Dr Syed Azhar Hasan Nadeem has cancelled appointment of seven deputy superintendents of police, presently working on a contract basis.
They are Malik Muhammad Husain, Khadim Husain, Zulqarnain Ali, Wazir Muhammad Dogar, Ameer Ahmad Malik, Muhammad Zafar Mehmood and Khadim Husain Niazi.
SUSPENDED: Ten police officials of Nankana Sahib and Sheikhupura districts have been suspended from service on charges of misconduct and abuse of power in a sodomy case.
Those who were suspended included Nankana DSP Muhammad Ashiq Marth, inspectors Ahmadyar Sial, Mansabdar Goraya, Mian Manzoor Ahmad, SI Ashraf Zahid, ASI Muhammad Rafique, head constable Sajjad Ahmed, constables Zahid, Sakhawat and Tariq.
IG Syed Azhar Hasan Nadeem took the disciplinary action following a news item published in a section of the press alleging that the police were protecting the sodomy accused.
The IG ordered DIG (inspection & vigilance) Zafar Iqbal Qureshi to probe into the matter. The inquiry proved them guilty.
