ISLAMABAD, April 10: Security around Danish and Dutch embassies in the capital city has been put on high alert following intelligence that suicide bombers from Wana are on their way to strike both diplomatic missions, sources told Dawn here on Thursday.

The sources said that the militants had threatened to attack the embassies in revenge for publication of sacrilegious caricatures in Danish newspaper and release of a video by a Dutch law maker that desecrated the Holy Quran.

Body search of people and vehicles are being carried out at the gate of the embassies, they added.

Special security arrangements have also been made around the National Assembly and Constitution Avenue to avert any terrorist activities targeting the government installations.

An officer of the police told Dawn that rangers and city police were taking part in the security arrangements.
