KHANEWAL, April 9: Family members of a patient, who expired during surgery at a private clinic on Tuesday night, blocked Stadium Road for an hour on Wednesday.

They protested against the doctor and declared him responsible for the death.

Reports said Rukhsana Bibi of Chan Shah locality was brought to Dr Haroon Gilani’s clinic for a medical check-up. She was suffering from pain in her arm and the doctor prescribed surgery to which her family agreed.

The patient died during operation. Later, her family members blocked Stadium Road and chanted slogans against the doctor. They accused the doctor of negligence during surgery.

According to Dr Haroon, the patient died of a cardiac arrest while the surgery was under way. He denied allegations of negligence during operation.

Reports said Khalida Bibi went to fields to meet her lover Abbass on Wednesday morning. In the meanwhile, someone told Khalida’s family about the meeting.

Her brother Khalid along with five others reached the fields and caught them while they were talking with each other. They later axed the couple to death.

“We have registered a case No. 80/08 under sections 302/148/149 of the Cr.PC and arrested main accused Khalid. We are conducting raids for the arrest of others,” said Nawan Shehr SI Muhammad Aslam.
