LAHORE, April 8: A young man allegedly slain a five-year-old child in the Qilla Lakshman Singh area on Tuesday to pave way for his marriage with the boy’s mother.

Ravi Road police said little Abdul Wadood left his house on Tuesday afternoon to purchase a shampoo from a nearby shop when accused Shahzeb lured him and took him to his house. The accused slain him with a knife and fled.

His family started a search for him after Wadood did not return home. The family also informed police about the incident.

In the meantime, Shahzeb’s brother Shahjehan informed locals and the police about the slain body of the boy that was lying on their roof. Police reached the scene, recovered the body and took Shahjehan into custody.

The police also contacted Wadood’s family to identify him.

According to initial police reports, Shahzeb wanted to marry the mother of the victim, who was a divorcee, but she refused to marry him on the pretext that she had a child and she wanted to look after him.
