Salary raise for horse-groomers

Published April 8, 2008

KARACHI, April 7: The Karachi Race Club (KRC) has given a raise of Rs 1,000 to horse groomers in their monthly emoluments with immediate effect.

A decision to this effect was taken by the patron-in-chief of the KRC, Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara the other day.

The horse-groomers, who were getting Rs 4,000 per month until the last month, will now be entitled to receive Rs 5,000 following the raise.

Earlier, a delegation had apprised the KRC officials about the minimum fixation of wages of labourers to Rs 6,000 by the government recently.

According to figures, some 400 horse groomers are employed by different owners and the raise will put no burden on the KRC budget.
