LAHORE, April 7: Chairman of the newly-constituted Working Group for Agriculture, MPA Ahmad Ali Aulakh, has stressed the need for consistency of policies for development of agriculture.

Presiding over the first meeting of the working group here on Monday, he said special attention required to be paid to the availability of certified seed for all crops, evolution of better varieties of crops, pest control, water conservation and adoption of advanced farming technologies for boosting agricultural production.

He called upon the members to give their proposals for solving the problems being faced by the agriculture sector and increasing production.

Punjab Agriculture Secretary Fayyaz Bashir and Livestock Secretary Babar Yaqoob briefed the working group, highlighting major issues, constraints and future vision of the government to develop the two sectors.

The meeting was attended by 13 newly-elected MPAs notified as working group members.
