MARDAN, April 7: An under-construction police station building in Mardan, the home-town of NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti, was blown up on Monday morning.

Police sources said an improvised explosive device had been planted at the Hoti police station, situated in a densely populated area of the town.

The explosions damaged three rooms, washrooms and wall of the building being built at a cost of over Rs20 million.

The sources said that bomb disposal personnel defused two more bombs planted in the building.

District Police Officer Tahir Khan told Dawn that the explosions appeared to be an act of sabotage.—Correspondent
