ISLAMABAD, April 5: The Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) will start lending for Kharif crop under its one-window operation (Zarkhaiz Scheme) from Monday, April 7.

The bank has allocated Rs22.5 billion for disbursement as Kharif credit to farmers.

Under the scheme, production loans for ensuing kharif season will be provided every Monday and Tuesday throughout the country, except Mingora in the NWFP, Turbat in Balochistan, FATA and FANA, said an official spokesperson.

The loans will be disbursed by respective provincial boards of revenue, agricultural departments and postal authorities.

The official said that the ZTBL had revitalised its one- window operation scheme to meet credit needs of small farmers timely and satisfactorily.

As timely credit availability will ensure use of good quality seeds and appropriate doses of fertiliser and pesticides, it will also enhance crop productivity and yield.

The scheme will remain operative till the end of July.
