LAHORE, April 21: Governor Khalid Maqbool said on Sunday that the government did not object to the holding of public meetings at open places but it would not allow anyone to block highways.
He was talking to reporters during his visit to Christian locality Yauhanabad.
The governor said blocking the highways like the GT Road by converging processions from various cities was illegal.
He said such activity was not permitted in the past and would not be allowed in future.
This was made clear to the Jamaat-i-Islami during the negotiations held before its long march on Sunday, he said, adding “we will get the restriction implemented”.
