Senate body submits requisition

Published April 4, 2008

LAHORE, April 3: Three members of the Senate Committee on Sports and Culture have submitted the requisition for a meeting requesting the presence of the PCB chairman and its disciplinary committee chief with all the relevant record on the basis of which Shoaib Akhtar was banned for five years.

The senators — Abdul Rahim Mandokhel, Syed Tahir Mashadi and Enver Baig — mention a three-point agenda in the requisition. The first point asks to discuss the ban imposed on Shoaib by the disciplinary committee.

Some relevant records are also to be submitted. The record demanded by the senators also includes the charge sheet and Shoaib’s reply along with a copy of the disciplinary committee deliberations.

Shoaib will also be present at the meeting.

The second point will be looking at Pakistan cricket team’s performance since Dr Nasim Ashraf took charge as chairman of the PCB.

The third point asks the PCB to submit to the committee within three days Pakistan’s ratings in Test and ODIs from the day Dr Nasim took charge and the rating as recorded on April 3, 2008.

The Senate Committee meeting is to be held within 14 days of the submission of the requisition.
