MINGORA, April 1: Two tribal elders were killed and seven other people suffered injuries in an attack on vehicles of some members of a jirga in Swat on Tuesday.

Police sources said the members of the jirga were going to Matta from Gut Peuchar, some 47-kilometre north of Mingora. Near the Shur area, some militants attacked them with Kalashnikovs and rockets, they added.

The victims were identified as Soor Khan and Baja Khan. The injured were taken to the District Headquarter Hospital in Saidu Sharif.

Meanwhile, four people, including a tehsil nazim and a naib nazim, were injured when a bomb exploded on the Sersanay-Kabal road.

The injured were taken to the tehsil hospital in Kabal.
