Suspect released

Published April 2, 2008

AMSTERDAM, April 1: Dutch prosecutors say they have released a 26-year-old Pakistani man arrested last month on terrorism suspicions due to a lack of evidence.

Prosecutors say in a statement released on Tuesday that an investigation turned up “no evidence” against the man.

They say he will be deported, however, as an “undesirable alien”. He was arrested on March 14 in the southern city of Breda. Prosecutors had said he was believed to belong to a cell of Muslim extremists.—AP
