LAHORE, April 1: Federal Defence Production Minister Rana Tanveer Husain said on Tuesday Pakistan Muslim League-N’s (PML-N) stance vis-à-vis Pervez Musharraf position remained unchanged despite taking of oath by ministers from him.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Mr Husain said democracy emerged triumphant with the power of vote on Feb 18, and the president would have to quit now. He said those confronting with the parliament would suffer as “an individual cannot succeed in causing harm to parliament”.

He said all promises made with the masses, including the reinstatement of judges and the independence of the judiciary, would be honoured. He said the green revolution would be brought in the country by providing facilities and incentives to growers.

The minister said an increase in the support price of wheat announced by Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani would help growers overcome their problems and it was a right step by the coalition government.

He said by introducing modern farm techniques, the country would be made self-sufficient in food, adding that the government would help growers. He said even though the government, led by President Musharraf, was responsible for water and power crises, the new government would try to overcome it.

He said problems of poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and backwardness would be overcome by pursuing people-friendly economic policies. He said new dams would be constructed to overcome energy crisis.
