SUKKUR, April 1: Two persons were killed and 12 others injured in an armed attack by 20 robbers on coaches near Pano Akil Cantonment in early hours of Tuesday.

Robbers blocked the road on National Highway near VIP Gate and freely looted cash and valuables from the passengers of stranded coaches.

They also resorted to firing on resistance killing Wazir Ahmed and Azhar Ali on the spot, while injuring 12 including Shahid, Laloo Pathan, Imran, Ali Mardan, Asif and others.

Police took the injured to the CMH Pano Akil and Sukkur for medical aid.

Bodies of Wazir Ahmed and Azhar Ali were sent to Punjab after post-mortem by police.

A case had been registered and police were said to be conducting raids to arrest culprits.

In another incident, armed bandits snatched rupees Rs3 million from Tariq Aziz Mughal, Manager, Kiran Sugar Mill Noman Goth Rohri on Tuesday when he was on way to deposit it in bank.

Reports said culprits intercepted the vehicle and resorted to firing in which guards Nawab and Atta Muhammad were injured after which they snatched the cash and fled from the scene.

The injured had been admitted to Taluka Hospital Rohri.
