PESHAWAR, April 1: The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) will compile the first-ever industrial and trade directory.

The directory will contain information about the existing industrial units, trade and business centers located in Peshawar and other parts of the NWFP, says chairman of the special committee constituted by the SCCI for compiling the directory, Ghazenfar Bilour, while speaking at a meeting held here on Tuesday.

Mr Bilour said that the directory would not only be given to the local business community, but it would also be circulated among the foreign diplomatic missions operating in Pakistan, ministry of trade and Pakistan’s overseas missions.

He said the local business community would also be able to promote their business through this directory.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued here on Tuesday, the SCCI president Haji Muhammad Asif, expressed deep concern over the unabated loadshedding and demanded of the newly elected chief minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti to take up the matter with the Wapda high-ups.

He said that the long power outages had badly affected the production capacity of the industrial units operating in Peshawar and other parts of the NWFP.

He said the manufacturers were facing great difficulty in meeting their production targets because of unabated power disruption.

Mr Asif lamented that the high ups of the public utility had assured the SCCI that power supply to the industrial sector would be ensured uninterrupted, however, on ground electricity supply remained suspended for six hours daily.
