PESHAWAR, Oct 23: Jamaat-i-Islami staged protest demonstrations here on Tuesday against the arrest of party activists in various parts of the country.

In all, three demonstrations were held in different parts of the city.

Workers, including women, of Shabab-i-Milli, Jamiat Tulba-i-Arabia, and Islami Jamiat Tulba, took part in the rallies. They chanted slogans against the government and demanded the early release of the party workers.

The provincial Naib Amir of Jamaat, Hakeem Abdul Waheed, led the rally taken out from Nishterabad. After marching on different roads, protesters assembled on the G.T. Road and blocked it.

JI’s women wing held its demonstration in Peshawar cantonment. A good number of women and children attended the rally.

In their speeches, Bilqees Hussain and Razia Aziz condemned the government policies, saying the rulers had failed to enforce Islamic system.

They also condemned the indifferent attitude of the international community towards he Muslims who were being subjected to barbarism.
