GUJRANWALA, March 25: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) seized a large number of passports and identity cards, arresting the owner of a travel agency in a raid here on Tuesday.

According to FIA officials, Additional Director Husain Asgher received a tip-off that two travel agencies were involved in human smuggling and extorting heavy amounts from people who wanted to go abroad.

He constituted a team led by inspector Shauket Ali which raided the office of a travel agency and arrested its owner Mehr Ashref.

The owner of the other agency, Tahir Javed, managed to escape ahead of the raid.

The raiding party recovered 11 passports, ID cards and other documents from the offices of the agencies.

The court fined the deportees Rs4,000 each while ordering release of 40 of them who paid the amount instantly.
