SUKKUR, March 25: The Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench, has issued show cause to Sukkur District Naib Nazim Abdullah Ghumro and two members of the district council, Jadan Shaikh and Mehran, directing them to appear before the court on March 27.

The notices were issued on a petition filed by District Nazim of Sukkur, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, through M. Mubeen Khan advocate, maintaining that a meeting of the council was convened on March 17 in compliance with the directive of the Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench.

The directive was issued on an application earlier moved by the two members including Jadan Shaikh and Mehran in a bid to table a no-confidence move against him.

He maintained that opposition failed to prove majority in the meeting and the no-confidence move against him also failed.

He further submitted that the convener Abdullah Ghumro has again called a meeting on April 1, 2008, which was unlawful and against the spirit of SLGO, 1979.

He prayed the court to cancel the membership of both women members who had moved the motion against him and also failed to prove majority.

While adjourning hearing of district nazim’s petition to March 27, the bench issued show cause notices to district naib nazim, besides the two members.—Correspondent
